WELCOME TO THE UK
SOUTHERN CKCS CLUB
The Southern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club
became the sixth regional Cavalier breed club when it was registered on 19
February 1979. The Club now has over 450 members mainly resident in
Hampshire, Kent, London South, Berkshire, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and
Isle of Wight.
The Club runs three shows each
year. Our Championship Show is set for the first Saturday in April and the one
in 2002 will be our twenty-first anniversary.
Most Club members are Cavalier owners who do
not show dogs and the Club offers the following additional activities:
-
In May, there is a Fun Day / Bar-B-Q with outdoor games, stalls and refreshments.
The proceeds go to the Southern CKCS Welfare Organisation.
-
In September we run an Open Day (formerly called the Roadshow) which is slightly
more serious and offers heart and eye testing by specialists and an opportunity
to talk to other owners/breeders on any Cavalier related topic.
-
In November, there is a Christmas Party with indoor games, stalls and refreshments
and again all proceeds go to Southern CKCS Welfare.
We publish an annual magazine
called "Cavalcade", where we invite contributions from all members and we shall also offer other seminars and events as
required. Our AGM is usually held towards the end of February.
The Southern CKCS Welfare Organisation is run by volunteers to rescue or collect Cavaliers who need a new
home (for whatever reason). The Fun Day and Christmas Party are particularly
geared to attract rescue Cavaliers.
